Stupid News

I don't have anything against families, but I don't think any child should be saddled with a name like Jinger. Especially if your dad is Jim Bob. Say it with me, folks ... only in Arkansas.

Woman Gives Birth to Her 15th Child!
Michelle Duggar, 37, of Fayetteville, Ark., gave birth on Sunday to Jackson Levi Duggar, her 15th child. Her husband, and father of the brood whose names all begin with the letter "J," is former Arkansas state legislator Jim Bob Duggar.

See a photo of the very large Duggar family taken in April when Michelle was named Arkansas Young Mother of the Year.

The Associated Press reports that mother and baby are doing well after the Caesarean section. Jackson weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces. "She's a trouper. She's just all smiles," grandmother Mary Duggar told AP. She gets the job of taking care of the 14 kids while Mom is in the hospital for three or four days. The Duggers are even considering having more children. Jim Bob told AP that he leaves that decision to his wife. "I have always left it up to Michelle because she's actually the one that carries them and does all the labor," he said. "But we both love children. Even yesterday, she said she would like to have some more."

Michelle is a busy woman. In addition to caring and cooking for a family of 17, she also home schools the children and is helping to build the family's new home from the ground up. In addition to Jackson, the family includes: Joshua, 16; twins Jana and John-David, 14; Jill, 13; Jessa, 11; Jinger, 10; Joseph, 9; Josiah, 7; Joy-Anna, 6; twins Jeremiah and Jedidiah, 5; Jason, 4; James, 2; and Justin, 1.

The name is said "Ginger". Nothing wrong with it...

What is wrong with these crazy, self-indulgent people? Michelle with her weird hair, Jim Bob with his fatuous face, all the little blobby kids as interchangeable as skittles... Doesn't anybody besides me see the control freak in Michelle (or maybe it's Jim Bob), the Munchausen-by-proxy symdrome working itself out with all these umpteen births (#16 expected in September 05), kids living in huge dormitory rooms instead of their own bedrooms, no privacy; kids being weaned at six months and handed to their "buddy," which in the Duggar household is a synonym for "slave."
Child abuse comes in a lot of forms. This is one of them.

I feel sorry for the kids having way too many responsibities and not having time to themselves. They can't even sit down to read what they want to. Everything is planned for them and I am sure that peeing is scheduled for them, too. If the girls were shown what women do, they would want to become doctors or lawyers and not just baby machines. I also think those jumpers are not all that attractive and if one looks nice, they feel better about themselves.

I am offended by the above comments. I am also home schooled, although my family is more, for lack of a better word, "usual" than the Duggars. I listen to regular music, watch TV, and I am also a committed Christian. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being a buddy. I think that whoever wrote that buddy=slave needs to spend a day in the house of a homeschooler. That is how we live, and you will be hard-pressed to find more respectful children than those from a good home school family. Don't criticize what you obviously don't understand!

Why do you have to start your article with "only in Arkansas?" I am originally from Arkansas and hold a Ph.D. from an elite university. We're not all backwater hicks. I'm just so tired of the negative press on my home state. My parents have five children (spaced over 21 years) who are all college educated, most with master's degrees. My childhood friends are similarly educated.
Instead of relying on old assumptions that are not true, look a bit deeper. Why not discuss the real issue -- fundamentalist Christian belief structures? Being from Arkansas didn't cause this, their belief system did.
I must say that I am amazed by the amount of press this family has received. I disagree with just about everything they do and believe but it's their choice. They are not on public assistance and their children seem not to be abused. I wouldn't want that many children and I certainly don't like the idea of children rearing other children but that's not my choice, is it?

Any rational person can see that there is something deeply disturbing about this family. I can only imagine what these poor kids have to deal with at home. These two nutjobs should not be ALLOWED to have any more kids, unless they want to supply Arkansas with even more serial killers! I mean cmon- these kids are freaking brainwashed zombies-do you hear them speak? They are all innocent kids who are devoid of personalities and independence at the fault of their nutty parents who think the more kids they have the closer to God it will make them!!!
Someone do something about these psychos!!!!

Michelle and Jim Bob are doing well and fine by borng these children but then sticking them with the older ones which is not fair to them. They are not their responsibility, they are Jim-Bob an Michelle's. They conceived them so them to raise them and let the others be children and young adults. Let them date and find that perfect match for them which they will never find if not given the chance. I personnally thing 18chriden is way to may and I don't believe their grocery bill is less than $2000 a month unless they eat a lot of left overs and hamburger helpers. Each person when their birthday comes around I believe is being scrimped apon by the parents because of the amount they have. Their clothes do look tike they came from the 1800's and Michelle seems to be perfectly haphpy with that. Well what happens if and when their daughters fall in love and want to marry, are they going to have to use Michelle's 10'xs? I certtainly want to. And the little ones have to feel bad as they always get the hand-me-downs and they can't afford to buy other colthing except at garage sales.

You two need to wake up and smell the roses and START USING BIRTH CONTROL. Even Christ didn't have an issue with BC, the the devout Catholics have this problem and from what I understand the Duggersa are not devout Catholics. They have a cult of their own and they are raising their children to be just like them. No wonder this world is becoming over-populated.

Home schooling is great if you havethe credentials to do so. The children do loose out on the social skills needed in the real work world to get along with others and make friends. It's just too back none of them can live on thheir own at the moment due to those lack of skills. The only people they know are those in their church, which from what I understand comes to their house so they don't even go to a house of Worship. They know no-one out side in the real world. How are thiese children expected to act when they date? Or are they ever going to be able to date? Anyone, children of a family should not be expected to talk over the hild rearing after 6 months because the mother is too pregnent again to do anything. I surely wouldn't want to be pregnet 13.9 years out of a 20 year marriage. Talk about Barefoot and pregnant! Now we know what the terms means. SO JIM-BOB AND MICHELLE DUGGER, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND STOP AT 19 to you other children can have a life. They only learn what they see from their parents.
